We’re using a formation that was quite OP last year and is one that I’ve not actually tried out this year, so it could be a pretty interesting one. A lot of people say it’s very good. So I want to present you tactics that I’ve got for now. We are going to be looking at the 5-3-2 formation in EA FC 24.

In this formation, you will get the 2 Strikers, you've got 3 players in midfield that you can pass around with. That definitely helps. The obvious strength of it is the 5 back is just very hard to break down in general. For this formation to work well, some of the things that you need in there, I think you need Midfielders who can attack. You're going to have less forward options generally. If you have Wing Backs constantly making overlaps, your opponent has to mark because it's one of these with the whipped pass. You can literally have nothing on, randomly cross it in, and at times it will just give you a free goal. Don't forget to bring plenty of FC 24 Coins if you want to buy new players to help you in games.

Custom Tactics

For Defence, I'm playing 20 Widths in this to try and make it very narrow. It's naturally quite a wide formation when it comes to defending because you've got five defenders. I want the team to be very close together if I lose the ball because when I lose the ball, my wing-backs could be out of position, and I don't want one of my center-backs going almost out to left-back and then in turn leaving massive gaps through the middle for people. Because that can happen and cause a lot of issues. The depth I choose is 45 Widths.

For Offence, I'm playing 50 Widths I've left it on that. You could up it if you think you're struggling to get width out of the formation. Every formation on this game, you need to be getting some width out of. If you don't, you're going to make yourself a lot easier to play against. Players in box is 6. I don't think that really matters too much as long as it's not on 10 or 1.

Player Instructions

In terms of the instructions, I've left the Strikers on default, except for one of them. The faster one is going to be on stay forward. I want at least one to be an outlet that I can go to when I win the ball back. That's going to be my fastest player in this team. That's Killian Mbappe.

For my Midfielders, I've got them all on cover center. The wing should be covered. you should, if your fullback wing-backs are out of position, switch to midfielder to cover that, though. I've left them on default, the middle, CDM. But anyway, I would put them on cut passing lanes and cover center as well.

In terms of the defense, it's default for the Center Backs. You'll know what I'm on about there. You just don't need to change anything for center-backs. Center-backs is pretty standard.

For the Wing Backs, I have them on balanced and overlapped. I think join the attack on the default would be a bit aggressive. This is just going to make them constantly making those runs down the wing that are really important in this formation to get some width.

In terms of the more aggressive tactic, I have up the width quite a bit just to help with the press, but still try to be a bit compact. The depth and press after possession loss is pretty self-blowy, upping that a lot, making it so it's harder for people to keep the ball against us. Terms of the instructions, I've got both strikers on stay forward now. These you could put one of them on get forward.And everything else is the exact same, except for I've put join the attack on the wing-backs to make them much more aggressive. I do think this formation could get countered a bit at times, but in general, it's going to be very hard for people to play against.
